Christmas shopping still not in full swing
by a staff reporter
A survey carried out by the General Retailers and Traders Union among various shop owners shows that Christmas shopping is still not in full swing.
Results of data collected from the owners of retail outlets selling gifts, clothing and shoes indicate that a Christmas shopping spree has still not fully materialised. This Christmas does not seem to be an exceptional season for shopping, despite all the hype connected to the millennium celebrations. Retailers are claiming that there has been no steady flow of business activity in these last two weeks.
The GRTU survey indicated that retailers are expecting a last-minute shopping rush will take place next week. Last Monday, however, which was a public holiday and when all the shops opened for business, was a particularly good day for Christmas shopping.
