Is your computer Y2K compliant?

When the local Y2K taskforce - Challenge 2000 - released its second State of the Nation Report for businesses, it was clear that although considerable progress had been made, there were still a large number of enterprises that had not or were not tackling the issue seriously enough.

Although many believe that nothing is going to happen on Friday night, it is still worth checking that one's computer systems are Y2K compliant. Small businesses which make use of two or three computers, a stock control programme and accounts programme would do well to check their systems.

The is little time left for a total check however there are numerous fixes and downloads available on the Internet that can be downloaded and used to check a business's computer.

There are hundreds of sizes offering patches and fixes. These check your hardware, the computer's BIOS and real-time clock and even certain programmes in particular Windows 95.

The downloads are free and highly recommended even for inexperienced computer users. Finding a technician today or tomorrow will not be easy so a quick check will help to prevent or at least postpone certain problems.
