Reality TV to be made available in Malta

by Franco Aloisio

The recently launched Reality TV, an American station, will be made available to several European countries including Malta through cable. Zone Vision's Reality TV, launched on 1 December 1999, is a mix of dramatic, non-rehearsed footage of real events. Partial programming of Reality TV was already broadcast on several cable operators but this will be the "real" thing. Programming on Reality TV, which looks distinctly American, has also been sourced from Europe.

The countries in which Reality TV will be made available include Austria, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Malta.

The company which is launching Reality TV is the cable operator UPCtv, a subsidiary of UPC, the foreign partners of Melita Cable. UPCtv will also be launching an Extreme Sports Channel and Avante, a men's interest documentary channel. However, these channels will not be immediately available in Malta.
