Corinthia announces new hotel in Tunisia

by a staff reporter

Corinthia Hotels International's list of fine hotels continues to grow with the latest addition of another superior four-star property in Tunisia, this time in the popular resort of Hammamet Sud. This is the 245-room Corinthia Chich Khan Hotel.

This beautifully finished hotel, with its characteristic "Moorish and Berber" style of architecture and which involved an investment of some 23 million Tunisian dinars, will open its doors for the first time on 1 May of next year. It is set to become the leading hotel of its type in this newly developed "touristic" area, where some 25 other hotels and a brand new marina have already sprouted over these last few months.

Set in extensive landscaped gardens of lemon, olive and palm trees, the Corinthia Chich Khan Hotel boasts a number of modern facilities including fully air-conditioned and exquisitely furnished bedrooms and suites, a number of speciality restaurants, cafes and bars, an extensive outdoor pool area, an indoor pool, solarium, tennis courts, bridge and television rooms, gift shops, hairdressing and beauty salons, private parking, a discotheque and a private sandy beach and club which is within walking distance from the hotel. A kids' club and full animation activities are also planned.

While targeting primarily the leisure market, the Corinthia Group will be mounting an extensive campaign aimed at establishing the Corinthia Chich Khan Hotel as a leading venue for conference and incentive business. The hotel's main conference room can cater for 350 delegates in comfort and style.

Two golf courses, one at Yasmine and the other at Cytrus, are only five kilometres away, whereas Tunis International Airport is 65 kilometres away.

"This is yet another bold step by Corinthia in its relentless march at attaining its established growth objectives, and once again we shall ensure that the Corinthia Chich Khan will, like all the other properties operated by Corinthia Hotels International over the years, become the leading property in the area where it operates," said Corinthia Group chairman Alfred Pisani during the signing of the management agreement, which was also attended by Mohammed Ghammam on behalf of the Tunisian partners, Societe Mediterraneenne de Tunisie, the developers of the project, and Corinthia Group's senior managing director, Sigi Bergmann. Corinthia Hotels International will be involved in all pre-opening stages of the hotel including staff induction and training and the introduction of reservation and other computer systems. Meanwhile, Corinthia Hotels International, with the support of its eight overseas offices in the major European cities, has embarked on an intensive marketing campaign aimed at securing sufficient advance business to start off the hotel on the right track as from day one.
