
AX Holdings announce changes in top management

AX Holdings chairman Angelo Xuereb has announced a number of changes in the Group's senior management structure. Michael Warrington is being appointed group finance director with effect from 1 February.
He will be taking over from Benjamin Muscat who will be leaving the group in March to take up the position of chief executive officer of a major development project. Mr Xuereb confirmed that Mr Muscat would be retaining his directorship on the board of Suncrest Hotels plc.
Mr Warrington is a certified public accountant and has held senior financial management positions with the Bank of Valletta Group, Air Malta Co Ltd, and the Starwood Corporation's Westin Dragonara Resort.
He resigned from Starwood to take up a partnership in a firm of accountants and auditors. Mr Warrington is an examiner in accountancy for the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Mario Attard, who is currently general manager of the Suncrest Hotel, will be taking up the position of group business development director with effect from 1 March. Mr Attard had been appointed Suncrest general manager in June 1996, following a period of 10 years as the hotel's controller. Previously he held the position of assistant administration manager/controller at the Kursaal Co. Ltd (hotel & casino operations).
Mr Attard is Vice-President of the Malta Hotels & Restaurants Association, and is also a member of the product planning & development directorate of the Malta Tourism Authority.
Mr Peter Janssen has been designated to replace Mr Attard as general manager of the Suncrest Hotel. Mr Janssen has been involved in the hospitality industry for the past 27 years, and has held senior management positions with international hotel chains in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Africa. His latest position was regional director of marketing with Inter-Continental Hotels in the Ivory Coast.
Mr Xuereb described the latest appointments as a significant step in the group's plans for consolidation and expansion.
He also took the opportunity of thanking Mr Muscat for his most valuable contribution to the group's activities during the past four years, and wished him success in his new and challenging position.
