PKF (Malta), a member firm of PKF worldwide, certified public accountants and auditors, has announced the opening of its affiliate office in Tripoli, Libya. These offices are centrally located in Tripoli and together with a local team of accountants provide a full range of accounting, audit, consultancy and marketing services within north Africa. A company statement said that the opening of the Libya office "is considered an important step for all PKF's clients who wish to penetrate this lucrative and exciting new market."
Commercial links between Malta and Libya have always been strong but this is believed to be the first time that a local accounting firm has decided to open an affiliate office in this north African country. The potential for even stronger economic ties between the two countries has now developed as a result of the suspension of United Nations sanctions against Libya. A Maltese commercial presence in Libya may also be used to exploit other north African markets such as Tunisia or Egypt.
