Mr Zammit Tabona, who is the President of the Federation of Industry, stepped down last week.

Mr Zammit Tabona has been a partner of the firm, and of its predecessors, since 1972. In a statement Mr Bonello said that Joe Zammit Tabona had worked incessantly, over a period of 28 years, to meet the needs of clients and to further the interests of the profession and of the firm.

"He has had an illustrious career both within the accountancy profession and within the community generally, including public appointments such as President of the Association of Round Tables (Malta) in 1978/1979 and subsequently of the World Council of Young Men's

Service Clubs in 1983/1984; President of the Malta Federation of Industry between 1990 and 1992, having been first elected to its council in 1980, a director on the board of Bank of Valletta between 1992 and 1997; and a member of council of the Malta Institute of Accountants from 1974 to 1984."

Mr Zammit Tabona is to continue to assist the firm in a consultant capacity to ensure an adequate period of transition and continuity in client service.

John Bonello added: "Joe has recently again taken over the presidency of the Malta Federation of Industry, an important post in what promises to be an important period of preparation and change for Malta

and one which will demand a high level of commitment and independence from him.

"It is his intention to continue to contribute to the community in years to come as he has done in the past."
