Relaunch of Insurance Quarterly magazine

by a staff reporter

Insurance Quarterly, the journal of the Association of Insurance Brokers and the Association of Insurance Companies, published in collaboration with The Malta Business Weekly, was relaunched and presented to members of both associations last week.

Insurers and insurance brokers were presented with the revamped magazine during a short ceremony held in the ballroom of the Radisson SAS Baypoint hotel. Roger de Giorgio, managing director of Standard Publications, publishers of The Malta Business Weekly, said that the relaunched magazine managed to have a very healthy balance between good editorial content and advertising.

Anthony Manduca, editor of The Malta Business Weekly, said that the Insurance Quarterly magazine is now much more varied and of greater interest to both the business community and the public at large.

The magazine, which catered mainly for professionals in the insurance industry has been revamped with two audiences in mind - the insurance and business communities. The 64-page, quarterly magazine, which has been given a new, fresher image, carries contributions from experts in various fields of insurance as well as feature articles on matters directly affecting the business community but with relevance to insurance.

This quarter's issue features in-depth coverage of the pensions problem in Malta. The Minister for Social Policy, Dr Lawrence Gonzi, is interviewed and he gives his views on how the government is working towards finding a solution to such a critical problem.

Dr Anton Felice, director general of the Green Card Bureau, writes about cross-border traffic accidents and the validity of having a green card in the event of a Maltese national involved in a traffic accident abroad.

Peter Grima, an insurance broker, queries why employers' liability insurance legislation was approved by Parliament 20 years ago but never enforced. He gives reasons why having this type of insurance is so important. The magazine also carries interesting articles on computer security and why taking out an insurance policy is not always enough. Other articles cover topics such as risk management, health insurance, life assurance, and the role of insurance stockbrokers.
