No one attends telecoms meeting

No one turned up for a meeting organised by the Ministry for Economic Services yesterday for importers of telephones, mobiles, VHF, and providers of internet and cable services.

Parliamentary Secretary Edwin Vassallo was meant to address the participants, but there was no one to address. The reason for the lack of participation was the result of industrial action being ordered by the GWU which is affecting government mail.

In fact, practically none of the invitations sent by the ministry were delivered due to the action at the postal departments.

The meeting was meant to make participants aware of the Small Business Unit which will coordinate the assistance to the small businesses and self-employed. Several meetings with various economic sectors will be held in the coming days, pending the delivery of the invitations to those concerned.

The meetings are being organised also by the Malta-EU Information Centre and the Malta Standardisation Authority.
