Gozo Business Chamber criticises wardens
The recent introduction of local wardens is having a negative effect on business in Gozo, according to a statement issued by the Gozo Business Chamber. It said that the already acute parking problem in commercial areas, like the centre of Victoria, is aggravated by over zealous local wardens with the result that operators are reporting a slack in business.
The Gozo Business Chamber is urging immediate action to relieve the present situation and suggests that:
Reserved parking bays allocated to government departments, banks and so on should be available to the general public outside the regular opening hours of these entities.
Loading and unloading, especially in areas where traffic is not necessarily congested, should be clearly delineated and permissible.
An urgent effort should be made by the authorities to provide adequate parking facilities before the situation deteriorates further.
The Gozo Business Chamber commits itself to collaborate with the relevant authorities to work on a solution to this very pressing problem.
