Tourist arrivals up in June

vThe number of tourist arrivals in June reached 120,703; an increase 2,473 or 2.1 per cent over the same month last year.

Arrivals from the Italian market increased by 2,533 to 9,507 from 6,974 in June last year. Other increases in arrivals were recorded from, among others, the French (+1,213), the German (+441) and a group of "other" (+2,107) markets.

In the month under review, arrivals from the British market dropped by 993 to 42,050 from 43,043 last year. Other drops in arrivals were recorded from, among others, the Belgian (-652), the Dutch (-554) and the Swedish (-1,013) markets.

In the first six months this year total arrivals went down by 2,155 or 0.4 per cent to 533,415 from 535,570 in the same period last year.

In the course of this period, arrivals from the British market declined by 9,988 or 5.2 per cent to 183,915 from 193,903 in the same period last year. Other drops in arrivals were recorded from, among others, the Swiss (-2,150), the Dutch (-1,111) and the Norwegian (-1,029) markets.
