by a staff reporter

Amadeus, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and technology provider, has opened a branch office in Malta.

The branch office was opened earlier this month, however the National Marketing Company (NMC) of Amadeus in Malta began operations in January providing the Maltese travel market with a new choice of travel reservation products, a dedicated customer service through a local

team providing Hetpdesk services, technical support and training for its clients. The new products brought to the Maltese travel market cover the Amadeus global travel reservation system, its Windows-based travel agency front office application Pro Tempo 2.3 and Pro Web Amadeus' browser-based reservation tool. Further product launches are planned for this year.

The official launch was attended by over 250 guests from the Maltese travel industry, along with representatives from the Amadeus offices in Madrid (Amadeus Headoffice & Marketing) and Nice (Centre of Product Development) and the NMC office in Greece.

Simon Rossi, general manager of Amadeus Malta, said that the launch of the NMC in Malta marked the introduction of new technologies and new choices for the travel trade in Malta.

"We have a highly skilled and enthusiastic team committed to provide the Maltese travel community with more than just technology and a reservation system, but with a complete and dedicated service geared to the specific needs of each client."
