Launch of new formulated engine oil
A new engine oil, XPCL, was launched last Monday in Malta during
a seminar at the Victoria Hotel in Sliema.
XPCL is a specially formulated oil which cleans and lubricates
the upper parts of the cylinder in petrol and diesel engines,
and is being distributed by B3T International, a newly formed
company which will be responsible, among other things, for the
marketing of XPCL. The product has been formulated by Conservation
Systems Limited of the UK. For its part in reducing pollution
XPCL is registered with the United States Environmental Protection
Agency.
Addressing the seminar, the Minister for Transport and Communications,
Censu Galea said he was aware of the transport-related problems
that the country is currently facing.
The minister explained how Malta passed from being a country
with one of the lowest car ownership levels in Europe in the
1970s to a country having one of the highest per capita motorisation
levels in the world today. He continued to explain that data
is collected and analysed on four indicators so as to assess
transport sustainability and policy effectiveness.
These indicators, which are fuel consumption, ambient air quality,
road traffic accident levels, and the occurrence of respiratory
illnesses, are making it very obvious that a problematic relationship
exists between the development of transport and the development
of certain types of environmental health problems.
Realising that a policy reform towards a more sustainable solution
in transport is required, the government has devised a strategy
focusing on actions designed to bring about a reduction in the
rate of motorisation and improvements in the quality of the
environment and health.
XPCL is a two-phase treatment. The first phase involves the
use of a cleaner, which prepares the engine for the lubricating
phase. The lubricating phase is a continuous process. While
most fuel additives mix with the fuel, altering the composition
of the fuel and the additive, XPCL does not mix with the fuel,
ensuring continuous protection.
The opening speech was delivered by Anthony Abela, one of the
directors of B3T International, who thanked all present for
the interest they have shown in the product. XPCL is distributed
in Malta by Highway Services of Balzan.
