Local website receives extraordinary response from retail outlets

by Franco Aloisio

Local e-commerce website ECASH.com.mt received an astonishing response from retail outlets after introducing the site and inviting retail outlets to register their stores within the free ECASH gift system, the company said.
The website’s main feature is operating a gift certificate system, were a user can purchase a gift certificate with the amount of their choice, and have it sent to a friend or relative residing in Malta, where the recipient can redeem this voucher in any of the participating outlets, thus providing a perfect gift solution for Maltese and foreign users alike.
Apart from sending gift vouchers over an internationally recognised secure server, the website also features other free services that include electronic postcards, an international flower delivery service with next day delivery, daily horoscopes and an event planner to remind you of your upcoming occasions.
The ECASH service is free to use and ECASH certificates have a pound for pound value, which means the sender and recipient are not charged when using the site.
ECASH.com.mt which is operated locally by Clayton Communications Ltd, is officially due to launch its system in mid-November. The official launch will take place in Malta, and will be mirrored in Australia, America and Canada due to the dense Maltese population in those countries.
According to Neil Pavia, managing director of Clayton Communications Ltd, the ECASH system is being welcomed with increasing enthusiasm by both local and foreign users even prior to its official launch.
“Local retail outlets have flooded us with requests to register, which is a very encouraging sign. We feel the internet is now starting to be recognised as a reputable sales medium by local businesses,” he said.
“Our website offers a free and simple service to its users, giving them the chance to send a ‘universal gift’ that will be appreciated and can be redeemed as the recipient wishes. In today’s fast moving world, this type of service is very convenient to use and most importantly does not take the novelty away from giving gifts,” Mr Pavia said.
