Sheikh visits Malta Pavilion
at Index Fair in Dubai

Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, director general, Department of Information of Dubai visited the Malta Pavilion at the International Furniture and Interiors Fair, Index, held at the Dubai Trade Centre earlier this month.
Sheikh Al Maktoum expressed his satisfaction for Malta’s first time participation at the Index Fair and was pleased by the range of furniture and interiors displayed by the Maltese companies.
The Malta Pavilion, which was coordinated and organised Metco, had on display a range of household and contract furniture including kitchens, reproductions, doors, bedrooms, sofas and wall frames. Another company displayed apertures, soffits and aluminium works.
The Index Fair is the largest Trade Show in the Middle East with a total of 19,300 square metres of exhibition space. Index 2000 featured 1,119 companies on 836 stands from 46 countries. Malta was one of the 22 national pavilions from Europe, the USA and the Far East.
A spokesman for Metco said that the Index Fair is the recognised annual meeting place for all professionals in the furniture and interior design sectors throughout the region. In fact, well over 25,000 trade visitors, from contractors, interior designers, importers and agents visited the fair.
The participation at the Index Fair is one of the events scheduled by Metco for the furniture industry. Other overseas events for 2001 include participation at the Furniture Show in Birmingham in January, a marketing programme and trade fair participation in Germany and a repeat participation at the Index Fair in 2001.
