Three-star hotels in Sliema join forces
by Franco Aloisio
Six three-star hotels in Sliema have joined forces and prepared
a common marketing and activities programme for their guests.
The hotels members of the 3-Star Hotels Club Malta are the Aprilia
Hotel, Hotel Metropole, The Carlton Hotel, Midas Hotel, Days
Inn and Patricia Hotel.
The club yesterday launched its programme of events which include
coach trips to the beach, walking trips, Sunday morning fun
runs, aerobic sessions, bicycle tours, in-house entertainment,
and visits to cinemas, casinos and night life districts. A brochure
has been prepared and will be distributed in Malta and abroad.
The group of six hotels are planning to own a private beach
in front of the Carlton hotel which would be used by locals
and tourists alike. The hotels said they would be responsible
for the beachs maintenance.
Managing director of the Metropole Hotel, Anthony J. Gatt, said
the common factor between all six hotels is the fact that they
are located in Sliema, a wonderful residential seaside town,
which is sought after by tourists.
The aim of this club is to join forces and come up with
a common marketing and activities programme. The main stumbling
for three-star hotels is the high cost to develop events and
activities for their guests. This is an ideal solution, as each
hotel will contribute to the marketing and activities programme,
while getting a return from other hotels, Mr Gatt said.
The six hotels will jointly offer accommodation for over 1,000
guests and provide conference facilities for over 400 people.
The 3-Star Hotels Club has set up also a web site www.3starhotelsclub.com
through which bookings can be made directly to these
hotels. Special joint tariffs will be offered to the guests
of these hotels for the coming winter season.
