Local companies to provide
esolutions to UK companies

by David Kelleher

Two local companies will be providing e-commerce solutions to UK companies after reaching a deal that is expected to lead to further business opportunities.
Bulldog Design Group and Webcraft Ltd, a subsidiary of Internet Service Provider Waldonet, have been commissioned to provide an e-commerce solution for a large British Honda and Mitsubishi dealership.
The deal was signed two weeks ago after months of negotiations between the UK advertising and design company Positive Advertising Ltd and Bulldog Design.
Contacted yesterday, Mr Nick Whittaker, accounts director at Positive, told The Malta Business Weekly that his company has seen some of the design work by Bulldog during an exhibition.
“We came across some samples of Bulldog’s work during a design exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham last year. We were quite impressed and contacted them. As Bulldog Design Group are geared towards design rather than full-blown e-solutions, they suggested that we also use one of their clients, Webcraft Ltd,” Mr Whittaker said.
Discussions began a couple of months ago and the deal was sealed two weeks ago. “We came to Malta for three days and they gave us a presentation of what they were proposing. In fact a prototype of the product should be ready by the end of January. Our company has also commissioned Webcraft and Bulldog to design our website,” Mr Whittaker said.
Speaking to The Malta Business Weekly, Waldonet’s chairman Aldo Calleja said his subsidiary company Webraft would be providing the expertise to develop the e-solution require by the UK company. Asked how important this deal was to local companies, Mr Calleja said it was very important.
“This is very important because we were chosen even though the quality of the competition at the exhibition was very high. In fact, we were competing with quite a few big brands. It is also a very important step for us. Over the past few months we have been gearing up to do business abroad. It will also, hopefully, have a domino effect, and provide us with the necessary contacts and possible business ventures,” Mr Calleja said.
Bulldog Design, CEO, Ren Spiteri, said his company was a design agency that over the past few months was carefully gauging the impact e-commerce was having on international markets and business.
“We have been doing business abroad since the company was set up, however we realised the important of e-commerce. Not being able to provide the expertise in e-solutions, we roped in one of our clients – Waldonet,” Mr Spiteri told The Malta Business Weekly.
