Vodafone Malta announces new reduced tariffs

Vodafone Malta Limited announced yesterday that as from 1 January 2001, its clients will benefit from substantially reduced tariffs. Vodafone clients can now choose between three schemes, offering further reduced tariffs, that have been designed to specifically answer the requests of the local market.
Two of the schemes, Business Plan and Personal Plan are completely new and replace the previous Fone 60 and Fone 25/Be respectively. While the Fone 60 customers will be migrating to Business Plan, the Fone 25 and the Be customers will be migrating to the Personal Plan. All calls will still be charged on a per second basis.
The new schemes are simple and without gimmicks. These schemes allow Vodafone Malta customers to pay only for actual usage. The e-talk scheme offers significantly reduced prices.
New Vodafone customers can subscribe to the Business Plan tariff for Lm15. The monthly access fee now is Lm10 while calls are at a flat rate of 11.5 cents throughout the day and night. It is worth noting that the new rate of 11.5 cents applies for calls to both fixed and mobile networks. SMS messages now cost only four cents per message.
Current Fone 60 customers will be migrated automatically and free of charge to the new Business Plan.
The Personal Plan carries a connection fee of Lm15 with a monthly access fee of Lm6.50. During peak hours calls cost 16 cents per minute and during off peak 12 cents per minute. SMS Messages cost 4 cents per message. Current Fone 25 and Be customers will be migrated automatically and free of charge to the new Personal Plan.
The e-talk tariff scheme has also been revised. Now, two choices of starter packs are available. A starter pack, inclusive of a Lm10 voucher with a 180 days time window, will cost Lm15. As from 1 February, 2001, Vodafone will also offer a starter pack inclusive of an Lm18 voucher with a 360 days time
window which will sell at Lm23. The tariff for mobile to mobile calls has been revised to 20 cents per minute during peak hours and 11.5 cents during off peak hours.
The new 20c per minute rate represents a heavy reduction of 56 per cent over prev-iously applicable rate of 45c per minute. Calls originating from mobile phones to a fixed line now cost 35 cents per minute during peak hours and 11.5 cents during off peak. Apart from the recently launched top-up voucher of 180 days which retails for Lm10, a new voucher for 360 days will be introduced. This will cost Lm18 and will be available as from 1 February 2001.
“Mobile communications will now be more affordable while the quality of service continues to improve. This is in line with the commitment of Vodafone Group – the world’s leading telecommunications organisation – to provide the best product and service options to its clients,” said Joseph Grioli, managing director of Vodafone Malta Limited.
