John Sullivan re-elected President of Chamber of Commerce

John E. Sullivan, chairman of Sullivan Shipping Agencies Ltd, has been re-elected as President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce for the year 2001.
The election took place during the Chamber’s first Council meeting held on Tuesday.
Reginald Fava was also re-elected as senior vice-president while Louis A. Cuschieri was elected as vice-president. Other elected officers are David G. Curmi, honorary secretary; Frank V. Farrugia, honorary Treasurer; Norman Aquilina, assistant honorary secretary; and Charles A. Zahra, assistant honorary Treasurer.
In a brief address to his fellow council members, Mr Sullivan thanked them for their renewed
confidence and promised his
commitment and dedication during his new term of office.
Mr Sullivan said that he expected this new year to be a very demanding and eventful one for the council, officers and permanent staff of the Chamber.
He stated that the main tasks at hand were related to Malta’s membership negotiations with the European Union and other matters related to the local economy which were of vital importance to business.
Mr Sullivan invited Council members as well as the Chamber’s trade sections and committees to take an active part and bring forward their proposals on matters of national and sectoral interest.
