Grimaldi Napoli upgrade Intramed service to Malta

Through the continuous increases in hold capacity and frequency, Gri-
maldi is enforcing what it considers to be the only viable strategy for making sea transport competitive with its overland counterparts. This long-term policy has been recognised and appreciated by the automotive industry as a whole. The automotive industry in Malta is to benefit directly from the group’s policies. In fact, with immediate effect, Grimaldi has commenced an additional service to the present day service operated by MV Malta Express. Grimaldi has chartered two Maltese owned and Maltese flag vessels – the MV St Angelo and the MV St John to run on this new weekly service. The vessels are PCCs (Pure Car Carriers), with a speed of 16 knots, 160 metres in length and have four loading ramps positioned throughout its structure to enable fast and safe loading/discharging in any berthing position. Each of the vessels has eight car decks fully equipped with modern and class approved lashing equipment/the downs.
The weekly service will have the following rotation: Savona (Italy) – Fos-Sur-Mer (France) – Barcelona and Valencia (Spain) to Valletta and proceeding to Piraeus (Greece) – Limassol (Cyprus) and Ashdod (Israel).
