Vodafone Malta launches
WAP

Vodafone Malta Ltd on Tuesday launched the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and became the first mobile telecommunications company in Malta offering the service.
WAP allows any mobile phone user using a WAP enabled phone to access WAP enabled material on the Internet.
Michael Darmanin, Vodafone Malta’s sales manager, said the company had promised it would be on the cutting edge of service development in the mobile communications arena in Malta. “The launch of WAP is yet another indication of our commitment to that promise,” he said.
WAP will provide mobile phone users with the ability to have access to a lot of information which is on the Internet. Prices for WAP access are based on the data rates. These are the off-peak rate prices on the particular tariff plan, that is for contract or e-talk subscribers and range between 11c5 to 12c per minute. The average WAP session is about three minutes.
The WAP service is also available to non-Vodafone Malta Ltd clients whether they are on the
network or if they are roaming
customers.
