Briefing session for Fifth Framework Programme
The Malta Council for Science and Technology is organising
another briefing session on the Fifth Framework Programme(FP5).
The session is being held tomorrow at the METCO Trade Centre
in San Gwann. and will focus on the International Cooperation
(INCO) Programme.
Malta has recently initialled an agreement to become associated
to the EU FP5 and Malta-based entities are now eligible to participate
in consortia that compete for funds under the EUs Fifth
Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development
and Demonstration (RTD). The Briefing Session will focus on
the current open calls for proposals, providing details of the
modalities for participation and basic principles applicable
to FP5 funding and contracts. The briefing will focus in particular
on the INCO-MED and INCO-DEV calls for proposals to be issued
by the European Commission in March 2001.
This session is mainly of interest to organisations active in
the fields of health, transport, linguistic diversity and multimedia
linguistic inter-operability, environmental sustainability of
coastal zones, ICTs in teaching and learning, sustainable settlement
patterns, water and waste water treatment, agro-food and senior
researchers (bursaries and fellowships).
The invited speakers include Dr Jose-Luis Araus-Ortega from
the European Commissions Directorate-General Research
as well as Anat Hering, INCO Assistant National Contact Point,
Israel and Dr. Jennifer Cassingena Harper, INCO National Contact
Point for Malta.
The participants will also be briefed about the procedures of
the Fifth Framework Programme by Maltas National Coordinator
for the Programme, Dr. Janet Mifsud.
