Advanced course in Human Resource Management

The Malta Institute of Management is organising a course which is focused on enabling participants to become fully conversant with practical Human Resource Management and Development issues. The course, which shall be organised as an evening course, commencing on 16 April, has been designed within a context whereby participants are given practical experience to understand and apply human resource strategies in different and diverse situations.
Additionally, this course provides opportunities for the individual practitioners to build their own capability for designing, developing and implementing appropriate performance and compensation management systems
The course is ideal for those involved directly in human resource management, or aspiring for executive positions within their organisation’s human resource department. The course is also useful for officials and executives from public service departments, parastatal organisations, and from trade unions.
The course is practical, relevant and developmental through the use of pre-course work, case studies and examples of management theories and practices and personal developmental plans.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
Understand the strategic concepts of Human Resource Management and Development in practical terms and within different organisational and entrepreneurial models and structures;
Identify the key features of manpower planning and its integration to career planning, succession planning job postings;
Identify the importance of Training and Development Strategies within any organisation and its direct relationship to Performance Management and Skills Development:
Identify the human relations approach to management and evaluate the importance of correct and adequate organisational communication strategies and networking systems. Additionally identify different motivating factors within different workplaces and situations.
Identify how to use reward strategies and associated processes to contribute to organisational success.
During this course, participants will experience the use of number of different techniques including practical exercises and case studies taken from situations in organisations. The course will be supported by video material, journal articles, reference books and documentation on current initiatives. Each participant is encouraged to bring along material from his/her organisation to stimulate debate and promote discussion.
The course facilitator is Mr Silvio De Bono, a qualified Human Resource Management and Development Consultant and Part-time Lecturer at University and various Educational and Training Institutions.
A certificate of attendance will be presented to each participant at the end of the course.
