New executive chef at Hilton Malta
Derek Abbot is the new executive chef at the Hilton Malta.
Mr Abbot has enjoyed a very prestigious career in catering,
having held positions in luxury hotels and establishments in
the United Kingdom, France, Finland and USA.
Mr Abbot has gained respect for his level of discipline and
attention to fine detail in his work that has enabled him to
satisfy the most stringent of standards in catering standards
and hygiene. Since 1985, his work has earned him no less than
25 awards, including Gold and Silver Medals, as well as RAC
and AA Rosette awards.
Mr Abbots most recent engagement before the Hilton Malta
was the Hotel Kamp in Helsinki, Finland, a 180-bedroom luxury
five-star establishment, during which time the hotel was awarded
3 Forks from the Michelin Guide 2000. Throughout his career,
Mr Abbot has organised many catering functions for a number
of notable events including the connoisseurs luncheon for the
British Diplomatic Service in Spain, 1995, a gala banquet for
Prime Minister John Major in London in 1996, and the Hotelier
of the Year Luncheon in London in 1997.
