Four establishments receive
Hospitality Assured accreditation
The Hotel Santana, the Vivaldi Hotel, the Bacchus Restaurant
and the Nostalgia Restaurant have been presented with the Hospitality
Assured Award, during a ceremony held at the Mediterranean Conference
Centre, presided over by the Malta Tourism Authority Chairman,
Dr John C. Grech.
The Hospitality Assured Award, which was developed by the HCIMA
(Hotel and Catering International Management Association), is
an international award which recognises and rewards high
standards of customer service in the hospitality industry. In
June 2000 the MTA launched the HCIMA-led Hospitality Assured
as part of its Strategic Plan for 2000-2002.
The four-star Hotel Santana in Qawra is the only hotel in the
Northern part of the island being accredited. Since its
opening in March 1996, the 200-bed Hotels focus was on
giving its staff the necessary training and induction to help
the Hotel retain the high level quality of service and customer
commitment for which the Hotel is now renowned, said George
Micallef managing director of the Hotel Santana. With
our standard procedures already established and in place we
knew we were ready to attempt to gain Hospitality Accreditation.
Franco Vella, general manager of the Hotel Santana said The
experience gained during the Hospitality Assured exercise was
extremely beneficial to the hotel. Apart from serving as an
experience for all the staff and management to work together
towards one goal, it is very important to get a different point
of view on the running of the organisation, especially when
this is coming from professionals in the field.
The significance of this award is great in that it really
proves that we have a good product which is really providing
what it intends to provide excellent customer service.
For us this award is a method of continuously ensuring
that the
service we are giving ensures satisfaction to both our clients
as well as to our employees, who will finally translate this
hospitality to our clients.
