Enterprise
advisory council set up

An advisory council has been set up to help the government prepare its strategy to boost the country’s economy and to
target new, evolving economic areas.
The advisory council will be meeting to advise the government’s newly set-up Malta Enterprise Board, however its role will go beyond just talking shop.
The council comprises top businessmen and entrepreneurs who have not only made a name for themselves internationally but have direct links with Malta.
These include, Frank Zarb, chairman of the Nasdaq, the alternative stock market in the US; Edward de Bono, the guru of lateral thinking; and Paul Manduca, CEO of Rothschild Asset Management in the UK. Other members of the council are Jonathan Calascione, senior partner of Monitor Strategies, UK; Franco Cassar Loporto, managing director, SG Hambros, Gibraltar; Roderick Chalmers, former managing director PWC, UK; John d’Ancona, consultant, oil and gas, UK; Dr Michael Gera, partner, Pond Investments, UK; Pier Massa, vice-president, Can-adian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Canada; Dr Alex Mifsud, consultant, Arthur D Little, UK, Arthur Soler, president Cadbury, Trebor Allen Inc., Canada, and the former rector of the University of Malta, Peter Serrracino Inglott.
Minister for Economic
Services Prof. Josef Bonnici said these highly regarded individuals had been invited to sit on the council because of their strong links with their homeland but more importantly because they had the expertise and contacts around the world that could be of benefit to Malta and the work being carried out by the Malta Enterprise Board.
The first meeting will be held on Saturday, however, Mr Zarb, Mr Manduca and Dr Michael Galea will not be able to attend. They will be joining the next council meeting in November. None of council members will be receiving remuneration.
The Advisory Council to
the Malta Enterprise Board
is chaired by Minister Bonnici.
