Pay-rise for Multigas Ltd workers

The General Workers’ Union has secured better wages for Multigas Ltd workers after negotiating a new collective agreement with the company’s management,
a statement by the union said yesterday.
This collective agreement, which has been approved by the employees in a meeting held at the factory, spans a period of three years and provides yearly pay-rises for the workers.
These increments are part of the statutory rises given to all workers as cost of living compensation.
The workers will also benefit from increases in shift allowance,
retirement leave and a constant covering insurance.
This agreement was negotiated by the GWU secretary of the General Workers and Chemical section, Gejtu Mercieca with the assistance of shop steward Karmenu Portelli and committee members Jesmond Azzopardi, Carmel Abela and Alfred Ciantar.
Representing Multigas Ltd. were managing director Michael J. Mallia; general manager Vince Bartolo; human resources manager Tony Apap and manager Paul Agius Delicata.
