Guaranteed rate on HSBC life assurance children’s plan

The Lifestyle Children’s Plan from HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Limited is a capital protected life policy that has the main aim of providing children with a headstart for their future. Furthermore, the investment provides a guaranteed annual bonus rate of six per cent up to the end of year 2002.
The Lifestyle children’s plan is a “with profits” savings plan that is designed to provide a secure and effective method of building a better future for your children. The plan has two versions, the Children’s Plan and the Children’s Plan – Gold.
Pauline Azzopardi, wealth management product manager, said: “Minimum premiums required are very low and this makes the lifestyle children’s plan accessible to anyone with young children. Furthermore, the plan combines an automatic sum assured of Lm1,000 that can be topped up when your child becomes an adult.”
Additional sums of money can also be invested in the Lifestyle children’s plan when the policy is renewed or on your child’s birthday. You can also choose to have your premiums increased every year to safeguard against the higher cost of living.
After reaching 18 years of age, the assured child will be entitled to take out a new plan with a maximum sum assured of Lm10,000, without evidence of health. Moreover, parents who take out more than one Lifestyle children’s plan will be entitled to a 50 per cent discount on the policy fee of subsequent plans for the other brothers and sisters.
The Children’s Plan – Gold offers the same benefits with the added advantages of a free permanent total and partial disability benefit of up to Lm1,000 on the child.
The plan can also be utilised to pay school fees while HSBC Life will grant loans using the policy itself as security. An optional life assurance policy of Lm25,000 or more on the life of the parents will be discounted by 10 per cent.
