Appreciation: Prof. John Harper

Prof. John Harper joined the Chamber in 1996 as director of Business Studies. His role there was to administer the business courses run at the Chamber and participated in the Chamber’s Business Education Committee. Apart from his main duties, Prof. Harper contributed regularly to the Chamber’s monthly publication, the Commercial Courier. He also acted as a Chamber representative on a number of government boards including MEUSAC particularly on issues related to employment and training.
He was also instrumental in instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in young people through Young Enterprise and introducing the Chamber of Commerce to the prospective young entrepreneurs. He recently relinquished his post as President of Young Enterprise Europe. Above all, Prof. Harper always sought to share his expertise with the executives and staff at the Chamber and was always there to offer advice on numerous subjects.
Prof. Harper regularly attended the Le Meridien Phoenicia/The Malta Business Weekly business breakfasts and was also a contributor to this newspaper.
His jovial and resilient character, which made him a great friend and colleague, will be sorely missed
by all.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9am at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral in Valletta.
