New telephone numbering plan
The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has announced further
service updates with regards to the inclusion of the “21”
prefix for Maltacom’s fixed-line telephony services. With
immediate effect, all calls originating from telephone numbers
beginning with: 41, 42, 43 will now be displaying the “21”
prefix in line with the new eight-digit scheme, currently being
implemented. To date, telephone numbers starting with 52, 55,
56, 57, 58 63, 66, 67, 69, 80, 82 and 89 have already been displaying
the “21” prefix.
This is another phase of the migration process, presently taking
place within Maltacom’s telephone exchanges network. The
public is therefore reminded that the new numbering scheme will
become effective on 1 November, with a parallel running period
of six months during which time it will still be possible to
complete a call using the old numbers.
