Malta included in Microsoft online promotion for Windows XP

As the countdown to the launch of Microsoft Windows XP, scheduled for October this year begins, the company has launched a region-wide online customer promotion that is aimed at building excitement and raising awareness levels about the path-breaking Operating System.
Fifteen editions of Windows XP Home Edition are up for grabs in the five-week long promotion
The promotion, which is valid up till 24 October, is open to all residents of UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Cyprus and Malta, and can be accessed at: www.microsoft.com/middleeast/windowsxp.
Mazen Shehadeh, product marketing manager, Windows XP, at Microsoft Gulf & Eastern Mediterranean (GEM), said the launch of Windows XP had already generated a high level of interest in the region.
“Because of its significant regional reach, we opted for the Internet as our promotional medium for this campaign. All participants need to do is log on to our website and answer one simple question on Windows XP. Answers can also be found through links on the same site.”
Participants need to answer one multiple-choice question by logging on to www.microsoft.com/middleeast/windowsxp. The website is also accessible by clicking on competition banners that are hosted on select regional and international portals – www.hotmail.com, www.maktoob.com and www.albawabah.com. The competition will run in 15 independent series, with the question on the website being changed thrice a week. The lucky winner for each series will be chosen by an online draw every Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, during the duration of the promotion.
“In keeping with the spirit of the promotion, we have kept the competition as dynamic as possible. So if an entrant does not win one particular series of the competition, he or she will have several more chances to win a free copy of the Windows XP Home Edition,” Mr Shehadeh added.
