Italian TMC Gattinoni Business Travel has reported a positive uptick in SME business following its acquisition of rival TMC Btexpert in January last year.

The TMC, which opened a new office in Treviso following the acquisition, said investing in a ‘physical presence’ in the Triveneto region, which has a high concentration of SMEs, has paid higher-than-expected dividends.

Gattinoni Business Travel Triveneto reported a 51 per cent year-on-year increase in revenues in 2023. While the TMC did not disclose financial details specific to the Triveneto region, the wider Gattinoni Business Travel group recently reported €254 million in revenues for 2023, marking a 30.2 per cent year-on-year increase.

Gattinoni Business Travel commercial director, Elena Carlino, said: “We managed to acquire large market share thanks to the excellent references [we] received, which have a strong value in the area. In this part of Italy there is great space to do good work and our plans are to expand and grow.”

Carlino said the TMC has “broken the mould” by successfully penetrating Italy’s notoriously difficult SME market and the team at its Treviso branch has since grown to 17 people (up from three in early 2023), led by area manager Alessandra Trevisan.

“We have adopted the methods that we apply to large companies… with a very direct and very human approach. With this belief we inaugurated the Treviso branch and word of mouth spread faster than our plans,” Carlino said, adding “this is a very encouraging sign that makes us look to 2024 with optimism.”
