Requiring office space is not just about renting a commercial room or two; you have to think about your requirements carefully. There is nothing more demoralising for staff than having to work in a small confined space, cramped together with hardly enough room to either feel comfortable or breathe freely. Having negotiated a lease for the office, furnishing it to your taste and creating the right ambience for the type of business that you are in, the next step is office insurance. Office equipment and furnishing does not come cheap, so you need to prepare for any potential hazard.

Your office contents insurance.

Your fixtures and fittings, all the equipment and the glass of your office, fall under a protection of contents insurance policy. Protection of office property and contents is certainly worthwhile when you think of all the horrors that could occur in these topsy-turvy times. Damage from floods, break-ins and much more is mitigated by your having adequate cover. Should there be a problem, the business would financially recover and continue as normal.

All risks and public liability insurance.

Besides covering everything in your office, you need cover for work equipment that you take with you from the office for work at home, and will cover you in transit as well. Some policies automatically include this as standard otherwise, it can be added as an optional extra.

Should a client have an accident at your office, or a member of staff say that you are responsible for their chronic backache due to the seating in the office and decide to sue you, or any of the hundred and one things that might occur, you are then covered by having an all risk insurance policy to fall back on.

Employers liability insurance.

Legally you are required to provide employers liability insurance for any staff in your employ. Without it, you could be in for a hefty fine and leave your business open to litigation.
