Large police presence near Cobalt Business Park in search for missing person


A large police presence has been spotted in Cobalt Business Park on Wednesday afternoon as officers continue their search for a missing person.

Members of the public have reported seeing number of police vehicles and a search dog unit in the Silverlink Biodiversity Park car park. A police helicopter has also been operating in the area.

ChronicleLive understands that the activity is related to the ongoing search for missing Newcastle man Thomas Reay. The 66-year-old is believed to have travelled to the West Allotment Country Park area in North Tyneside.

Thomas was last seen in the Silver Lonnen area of Fenham, Newcastle, at around 7am on Wednesday (May 29) and officers and his family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

He is 5ft 4ins and was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, shorts and black shoes.

Northumbria Police is asking for anyone with information regarding Thomas’s whereabouts to contact them. Anyone with information has been asked to call the force on 101, quoting log number NP-20240529-0354.
