Property consultancy firm Rapleys has announced record results for the year ending April 2023 with turnover of £16.02m, compared to £12.8m last year, a rise of 25%, and a pre-tax profit ratio of over 30%.

The growth was led by Rapley’s Building Consultancy team, which has seen a 300% increase in turnover in the last three years and launched new services such as ‘Housing Consultancy’ led by Martin Gladwin, ‘Cost Consultancy’ with the appointment of Jack Cawthra as head of the team based in Manchester, and ‘Sustainability & Building Services’ led by Lee Fraine who joined in June 2022.

Most recently the team appointed ex-Colliers head of building consultancy, Paul Dunne, as Partner in the London office, and Tom Spencer as the new Head of Residential Development, who was hired alongside the launch of Rapleys Living.

The other three core divisions of Commercial, Planning and Residential were boosted with the acquisition of three businesses in the last 12 months: planning consultancy CSJ in Bristol, residential consultancy s106 Affordable Housing on the South Coast, and the biggest acquisition in the partnership’s history with the purchase of surveying firm Aston Rose in London.

The last year has been pivotal for Rapleys who also rebranded, reorganised, and announced considerable investment in people and infrastructure in September.

The company also launched its People Plan last month with the aim of becoming the ‘employer of choice’ by promoting a fun and positive working environment, and bringing together the company business plan, values, technology, employee development, management of people, wellbeing and recognition.

It introduced a range of new initiatives such as birthdays off, bolstered CPD, the removal of core working hours (hours instead agreed with employee and manager), minimum six weeks holiday for all employees and a wellbeing hub amongst many others.
